What would you do with a unique power, so unique that you are the only one in the world who possesses such a gift? In the final installment of The Paper Magician Trilogy, Ceony Maya Twill is back again and ready to take her test to officially become a Magician. On top of the stress of taking her test, she is once again faced with the challenge of trying to defeat and conquer the last Excisioner, one of the three first introduced in The Paper Magician. Not only does Ceony have to study for her test, but fight to stay alive.

I really enjoyed this installation, like I did the first two. I will say that I am glad that it is ending. I think if this continued into more books it would get old and they would be less enjoyable. Ceony’s character continues to develop, and her love for Emery blossoms even further. I love that there is a mixture of two stories in one. There is the world of her fighting to stay alive, and then there is the story of her struggle with a difficult mentor who is to issue her test. It breaks up any monotony in the story line.

All in all I would highly recommend this trilogy. All three books are quick reads, but enjoyable. You don’t feel as if you are missing anything by them not being longer. I am very interested in anything else the author plans to write in the future.
